Free practical training workshops and stimulating keynote speakers form integral part of Annual Members’ National Conference – “Driving forward for a stronger fleet management future”

Free practical training workshops and stimulating keynote speakers form integral part of Annual Members’ National Conference – “Driving forward for a stronger fleet management future”

The Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) is repeating the successful format of last year by integrating free training workshops as part of this year’s annual members’ national conference to be held on Wednesday July 14 at the BMW MINI Plant at Cowley, near Oxford. In addition, there will be three keynote speeches to stimulate further thinking and discussion making the national conference a ‘must attend’ event for any member and invited guest serious about maximising the opportunities as organisations slowly drive out of the current recession.

Chairman of the ICFM, Roddy Graham declared: “All members are under considerable time and cost pressures and, following on from the very positive reaction we received from members to last years’ free training workshops, Council felt there was considerable value in organising, as an integral part of the annual members’ national conference, further free practical workshops to help members address today’s challenges.”

In the first workshop of the day – ‘Creating the right environment’ – attendees will be asked to develop at least five ideas to stimulate and encourage suppliers to deliver truly outstanding service and also develop at least five ways of encouraging more active participation by drivers in the management of cost.

In the second workshop – ‘Getting a better return on the fleet investment’ – participants will be asked to develop at least five initiatives which will reduce the overall cost of cars used for business travel and also identify at least five ideas to reduce the cost of cars provided principally for staff remuneration.

The workshops will not only reinforce to members and their guests the very high standards of the ICFM and its forward-thinking approach but also underline how its accredited education and training programmes can make a real difference to organisations.

The first keynote speech, focusing on education and training, will be delivered by Sarah Sillars OBE, executive chair of the Institute of the Motor Industry.

The second keynote speech will be made by Adrian Walsh, secretary and director at RoadSafe.

Rounding off the day will be Kevin Gaskell, CEO of Drive Development, who will talk about ‘Success in a difficult environment’, by drawing on the lessons learned from the Porsche turnaround and walking to the North and South Poles.

The annual members’ national conference/workshop will commence at 09.30am on July 14 and finish at 3.30pm. ICFM members will be allowed to bring one guest with them.

For more details and to complete an online conference/workshop attendance form, members should go to the ICFM website at www.icfm.com Alternatively, they can contact Lynn Eldridge at the ICFM on 01462 744914. The deadline for registration is 8 July 2010.
