Countrywide wins 3M vehicle rental business

Countrywide Car and Van Rental, one of the largest short-term corporate vehicle rental distributors in the UK, has become the preferred supplier for vehicle rental business for 3M United Kingdom PLC following a recent e-bidding event. 

Roddy Graham, commercial director, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract in what proved an innovative tender process.  We would have expected no less from a company with such an historic track record for product innovation.  3M United Kingdom expects high standards from its suppliers and we have already met one of the company’s requirements by building a bespoke extranet booking and information facility in record time.  The facility has been created to assist 3M UK in managing and improving its cost control of car rental while providing a simple and flexible booking system for its authorised employees.  The extranet site will also fulfil 3M’s pan-European and global rental requirements supported by the no hidden extras pricing policy.”

Steve Thompson, senior buyer at 3M UK, said: “Countrywide’s offer reflected everything required by 3M in the e-bidding event.  The fixed price approach specifically appealed – knowing the true cost, with no hidden surcharges, was a high priority for us.”

3M’s United Kingdom rental business will be supplied via Countrywide’s comprehensive UK network of locations, which between them can offer the widest choice from over 73,000 cars and vans.

Customers benefit from a special all-inclusive pricing policy including free unlimited mileage.  A single reservations number – 01344 780 780 – covers both local or national vehicle rentals.  Deliveries can be arranged with as little as two hours notice.
