Unprecedented ‘Three-in-a-Row’ win for Leasedrive Velo in 2008 Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards – Winners of the ‘Management Team of the Year’ Award

The Leasedrive Velo Group, one of the largest independent privately-owned vehicle management groups in the UK, has achieved new heights by becoming the first company to scoop the ‘Management Team of the Year’ Award for three years in a row at the 2008 Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards. Now in their 14th year, the awards recognise the “best of business” in the Thames Valley, second only to the City of London as the most important and successful business region in the UK. The awards are acknowledged as the premier multi-category awards scheme in the region and ‘The Management Team of the Year’ award, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, is presented to an outstanding management team that demonstrates strong leadership skills, drive, commitment, adaptability and the ability to think and plan ahead.

Leasedrive Velo Group commercial director, Roddy Graham said: “To win this award over three consecutive years is an unprecedented accolade for us and testament to the strength-in-depth, quality and expertise of our management team. 2008 has been another major milestone in the history of our company as the senior management team bought the company at the end of August in a deal valued at £80m. The transaction was backed by private equity house Lloyds Development Capital (LDC), through its Reading office, and debt and asset finance facilities to support the deal were provided by the Reading-based corporate banking team of The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). This deal bucked the trend in the fleet industry and demonstrated the confidence both the senior management team and our backers have in the future of this company. Indeed, we significantly increased our equity and shareholding in the new company, which we re-named Leasedrive Velo Group.

The award was presented to commercial director, Roddy Graham by the Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP, former Foreign Secretary and deputy leader of the Labour Party at the Madejski Stadium Royal Berkshire Conference Centre in Reading.
